It is not necessary to go to a school of fashion in order to take fashion photography. However, if you do choose to go to a design or fashion school it would likely advance your eye for fashion. A more ideal choice would be to attend a institution that has available a major in fashion photography.

If, however, a fashion photography is not an option, then a basic photography major would be a good choice as well. Your chances of obtaining a job in this field will be increased if you have some kind of degree in either fashion of photography. Getting your degree will be just as hard as getting any other degree. Even though it is your passion, you should expect to work hard and invest a lot of time into school.

The best way to break out into fashion photography is to get an internship. Usually schools offer an internship match up with their students. If you cannot get one through your school, you may also be able to find one through calling around or looking on the internet.
