Basic Skin Care Secrets
Your basic skin care routine should consist of three regular steps twice a day. The first step is to wash or cleanse your face.
Most people prefer a cleansing cream, but those with more problem skin
may like to use an acne wash or sensitive skin product. For very
sensitive skin, there are some fantastic natural or soap free brands
available, so don’t ever use something that burns or is too drying or
harsh for your skin type. After you have washed and rinsed your face
and neck, you should use a toner. This is often
overlooked, but toners are responsible for closing your pores after the
wash has opened them. Using a cotton ball or pad to wipe toner over
your face will also remove any extra dirt that wasn’t removed with your
cleansing process. Again, don’t use a toner that causes any discomfort
at all and your skin should feel smooth and soothed after applying it.
Third, apply a moisturizer that is suitable for your skin. Do not use
a heavy, deep moisture if your skin is oily, because it will only clog
your pores and cause problems. If you have very dry skin, you should
use a heavier product.
The secret to looking after your skin is trial and error. Don’t settle
for the same product you have been using since you were young and don’t
be afraid to try new things. Spend time looking at what is available
and reading and comparing the ingredients and information. Ask people
you know who have admirable skin which products they use, then give
them a try. When you find the right one for you, your skin will feel
calm, clean, soft and supple and you will have a natural, healthy glow
every time you use it. Only use scrubs and masks weekly or
fortnightly, as skin is fragile and doesn’t respond well to over
treatment.
If you really want great skin, you need a healthy body, mind and beauty routine. Eat well, drink a lot of water, avoid junk foods and exercise regularly.
