Choosing The Best Tooth Whitening Product

December 6th, 2007

Many people today are obsessed with their looks and teeth whitening is one of the quickest and easiest ways to improve a person’s looks. The teeth whitening industry in
the U.S in particular is a multi-billion dollar business that is growing at a rate in excess of
20 percent per year. Tooth whitening is one of the easiest beauty
processes that can be undertaken by both men and women for fast results.

People are always searching for the best tooth whitening product,
however there are several considerations to take into account. Results for different tooth whitening products will vary depending on
the way you use the kit and the way you maintain your
teeth after the whitening process has been completed.

You also need to consider whether you want professional tooth whitening performed by a dentist or if you’d prefer a do-it-yourself tooth whitening kit that you can use at home. Both methods will produce excellent results. A good compromise can be to have the initial whitening treatment performed by a
dentist then to purchase the best tooth whitening product that you can
afford and do the follow-up treatments at home.

Using a Tooth Whitening Tray

September 13th, 2007

How Does a Tooth Whitening Tray Work?

The home teeth whitening process involves adding a gel solution to a tooth whitening tray which is then applied to the surface of the teeth. Using a tooth whitening tray is convenient and easy and it costs a fraction of professional tooth whitening from a dentist.

However, when you use the tooth whitening tray, keep the following points in mind:

  • Occasionally teeth can become sensitive to hot and cold when using a home tooth whitening kit. Brushing your teeth with an oxygenated toothpaste will strengthen your teeth to minimize any reaction and the teeth should settle down when the whitening process is complete.
  • In order to obtain the best results the tray needs to fit as snugly as possible, so carefully follow the molding instructions included with the kit.
  • Choose a home-based kit that uses a carbamide peroxide base rather than glycerine based, which can potentially harm teeth. Ensure that the formula you purchase has a minimum 21 percent concentration of carbamide peroxide.

A tooth whitening tray may also used by the dentist when performing professional teeth bleaching. The function of the tooth whitening tray remains the same, however - to carry the gel and protect the gums.
