Facts About Basic Laser Hair Removal

June 18th, 2008

The newest trend in permanent hair removal is laser hair removal. It is also touted as an substitute to constantly shaving and waxing areas of the body. You should be aware of laser hair removal facts before jumping in even though it does have its advantages.

Not everyone who offers laser hair removal services is qualified or skilled enough to do so. Some advertising claims make it out to be a miracle cure, but in reality it’s not. Claims made by salons and beauty centers need to be treated with caution and scepticism.

How the Process Works

Laser hair removal works very simply. Just above the skin is a handheld device that looks very much like the one used in ultrasounds. Light at a specific wavelength is delivered from the device and seeks any dark material.

This is usually the pigment in hairs. One of the laser hair removal facts is that gray, blond, and red hair cannot be targeted with a laser because of the nature of the treatment. The pigments are non existent or too light for the treatment. Your skin should also be light colored for this treatment to be successful.

Advantages

Laser hair removal facts prove that this method can be very satisfactory to consumers when it is performed by the right people. At the same time disappointing results occur when an unskilled and untrained person performs the treatment.

Regrowth is often lighter and of a finer texture than the original hair, which is the advantage of using this method. Other hair removal methods do not always provide this advantage. This process can also be done fairly quickly and over relatively large areas of hair like the backs of legs.

Disadvantages

Laser hair removal information stresses the importance of finding someone qualified to perform the procedure. Because the side effects can be quite serious when done improperly. There is a possibility of causing burns, lesions, and skin discoloration that looks patchy.

Another disadvantage is that some people find this procedure quite painful. Laser hair removal facts are not comprehensive enough, and studies have not been carried out to determine the long term effects of the treatment. There is insufficient data to totally prove the tissue surrounding a hair follicle is affected, even though it’s not suppose too be.

This procedure is seen as a cosmetic one by many states and you should check how your state regulates the procedure. Check that whatever facility you intend to go to, meets with all the laser hair removal facts you have. It should not make quack claims about totally permanent hair removal.

How To Utilise Laser hair removal for your unwanted hairs

People nowadays have enjoyed the benefits of advanced science and technology. It is truly a big plus if that advancement is for the enhancement of one’s beauty, health, and life. There have been so many technological advances now that one just has to say what he wants, and most if not all of the time, technology has an answer for it.

Take for example a person’s hygiene or grooming, there are ladies and men also, who are conscious of the hairs that grow in unwanted areas of the body. Of course, this can be addressed through a shaver, puller, scissors, etc., but the problem is that it is a recurring activity, which if possible you would want to avoid. Several hair and skin clinics, spas, and salons, have found ways to resolve this. You can opt to have these unwanted hairs waxed or permanently removed, it actually depends on you. If you feel that it’s time to stop the hair growth in that particular area of your body or skin, then go for it — but know that it entails money, patience, and choice.

For people who prefer to have their hairs removed for a long period of time, they can have the laser hair removal done for them. Although with laser hair removal technology, it is still not an assurance that the hair is permanently removed; its re-growth is just controlled or hindered for a very long time. Since this is a very delicate operation or process, you have to choose a good laser hair removal practitioner to perform such thing. The result is usually dependent on how experienced that person is in this field.

One, as a patient or client, should know how this laser hair removal works so that the person would be aware of what’s being done to his or her body. This laser hair removal technology is actually the use of laser energy to produce heat in the hair, then transfer it to the follicle, then produce an inflammation, which signals it to go in a resting phase or telogen. Although the process sounds quite simple, it actually takes patience to undergo such treatment — one has to undertake three to six treatments in an interval of a month or more. Also, while this process is undergoing for the next couple of months, one also has to do some maintenance treatments. This is also an expensive treatment, depending on which area of the body you want the hair removed; this consumes hundreds of dollars to a thousand.

So, if you are truly ready to take on this, then why not do it. If you feel that your unwanted hairs are becoming a trouble, then do something about it.

The Disadvantages Of Electrolysis Hair Removal

July 15th, 2007

Electrolysis hair removal is a great option for many people. For example, the best uses I’ve seen for the procedure is for women who want to remove unsightly hair from their upper lip, chin or jawline. Facial hair on women is extremely embarrassing so any procedure that can remove that hair permanently using a completely non-invasive procedure gets my vote. However, there are some disadvantages to electrolysis hair removal that you should strongly consider before going through with the procedure.

Scarring

First of all, there is a potential for scarring with electrolysis hair removal. If a pointed needle is used and there is now device that prevents the needle from penetrating the skin then there is potential for scarring. Should the needle enter and an electric charge is discharged into the skin, you could get a scar. That would not be nice if it happened on the face. If you choose to have electrolysis hair removal, be sure that the needle used is rounded so it can’t enter the skin. More importantly, be sure that the electrolysist is experienced and competent.

Cost Of Electrolysis Hair Removal

Electrolysis is extremely expensive. One hour can cost $45 or more. It can take 30 hours just to remove hair on the upper lip depending on how much there is and the electrolysist is slow. Someone who is faster and more experienced may be able to do the same procedure in half the time. You may be better off getting a home electrolysis device and performing the procedure on yourself. It could be hundreds of dollars cheaper.

Abusing Electrolysis Hair Removal

Using electrolysis hair removal to eliminate hair under your arms or legs is borderline abuse of the procedure. That’s just my opinion at the present time and need not agree with it at all. Using electrolysis hair removal to remove all the hair on your arms because there is too much for your liking seems too extreme to me. In this cause shaving or other hair removal options are probably better. However, if there are certain parts of the leg that a woman finds painful or uncomfortable to shave, perhaps the hair on that area could be removed while she continues to shave the rest of the leg.

Loni has also written a report on electrolysis that would she would be happy to send you. Just email her at nomorehair@aweber.com. She will also share some anti-aging tips from time to time.
